TEQUILA

The living earth.

Beneath our feet the earth dances, beneath our sun, the earth alight with color, gives us life.

Canvases and Shadows in Tequila

In the heart of this iconic Jalisco town, we take the sky as our canvas to offer you a colorful and fresh respite while you enjoy the traditional market in the main square of Tequila, a magical and most Mexican of all towns. This decor is an invitation to immerse yourself in its essence, to enjoy its creativity, and to fall in love with its art and the vibrant spirit that defines it.

Thanks to the Mayor of Tequila, Diego Rivera Navarro, who, with the intention of refreshing this small market, gave us the opportunity to do so through functional art. In addition to being exposed to everyone's view, evoking a welcoming atmosphere of culture and tradition, this allows us to walk these nearly 180 meters of walkways under the shade of this intervention.

We begin at the Ramón Corona Walkway , featuring a vibrant and colorful textile décor. This installation fuses different styles of fabrics and prints, bringing to life a kitsch Mexican design. This style is characterized by a celebration of the popular, the colorful, and the eclectic, blending traditional elements with modern touches in a cheerful and carefree way.

Among the details that make this decoration unique are iconic phrases from our beloved Tequila, as well as textiles inspired by classic market bags. Floral patterns and prints reminiscent of the spring and summer seasons stand out, with a solid color palette that enhances the beauty of the surroundings. Additionally, some of these textiles feature delicate frayed edges, adding texture and dynamism as they play with the wind and the uneven ground. We named this installation after this: The Dance of the Living Earth.

We continue this tour under the Jesús Rodríguez de Hijar Walkway, a vibrant and colorful structure perfect for enjoying the plaza's surroundings. This street is named after one of Tequila's most prominent musicians, recognized for his invaluable contribution to the mariachi genre, a symbol of our national identity.

The street decoration is a celebration of the joyful music, dance, and cultural richness of our municipality, highlighting the diversity and elegance of our traditions. Inspired by Mexican cotton and natural pigments, this work features a color palette of terracotta, mustard, tilda, and aqua hues, creating a harmonious combination we call the Colors of the Living Earth.

Each piece in this installation has been handcrafted on a traditional loom by expert hands, who have woven Mexican threads to bring this textile work to life. The fraying and pigmentation have been carried out using traditional techniques, adding texture and depth to every detail.

This work is a tribute to the beauty of our Mexico, its art, and the passion of those who keep our traditions alive.
